X-JAM Takaifuji is located on the eastern slopes of Mt Kosha in Yamanouchi town, in the north-eastern region of Nagano Prefecture.

In recent seasons, X-JAM Takaifuji was one of five connected ski hills on the slopes of Mt Kosha that were branded as 'Mt Kosha' and joint lift tickets were available. However, since the 2016-2017 season there have been various changes. For the 2018-2019 season the big ‘Mt Kosha’ concept seems to have fractured further. See lift ticket information below for details on X-JAM Takaifuji lift tickets for the 2018-2019 season.

X-JAM Takaifuji and Yomase Onsen offer a joint ticket; Kita Shinshu Kijimadaira and Makinoiri Snow Park are both operating independently, and Yamabiko-no-oka is continues to be closed. A ticket that is also valid at nearby Ryuoo Ski Park and Komaruyama is available.

In the regions surrounding Mt Kosha, Myoko and Madarao Kogen are to the west, Nozawa Onsen is to the north and Shiga Kogen is to south west.

Nagano Prefecture is located in the Chubu region of the main island of Honshu. Most of the Northern Alps, Central Alps and Southern Alps are located within Nagano (along with neighbouring prefectures). Nagano has the second highest number of ski and snowboard resorts in all of Japan and they are spread around the whole prefecture. Nagano city and many of the major ski resorts are located in the northern region.
