Koshi Kogen is a ski area located in Nagaoka City, the second largest city in Niigata Prefecture.
The ski area location used to be Yamakoshi Village. However, along with a few neighbouring towns and villages, Yamakoshi became part of Nagaoka City in January 2005.
Yamakoshi has traditionally been known for traditional Japanese countryside scenery, koi carp and bullfighting. Sadly, the powerful Chuetsu Earthquake in 2004 severely damaged the village and wider region. It has since recovered and is a beautiful place to visit all year round.
Koshi Kogen ski area has one pair lift.
There are two other ski areas within modern-day Nagaoka City. The other two are Nagaoka Shiei and Tochio Family.
There is no specific snow park.
There is a small kids area at the base of the ski area.
Limited ski and snowboard lessons are available at Koshi Kogen.
Ski and snowboard equipment & wear rental is available.
